Why we built Print Deploy
TL;DR we want to make print queue deployment easy for you
Today we released Print Deploy.
That feels extremely satisfying to write. I’ve been a part of the team working on this initiative for many, many months. It feels wonderful to make it available to everyone finally!
Print Deploy is part of PaperCut MF/NG 19.1 (which, as you may have guessed, was also released today).
Print Deploy gets the right print driver and the right print queue to the right person in the right location, automatically. In doing so, it effectively solves the notoriously difficult task of deploying print queues.
The gap in the industry
We’re focused on making complex things simple here at PaperCut. And when we looked at the print enablement space – actually setting users up with the correct print queues – we realised there was a huge gap in the industry.
There are a lot of pain points we’re solving with Print Deploy. Complexity in managed-device environments has made deploying drivers and queues really painful for IT.
I summarize the complexity like this – I’m sure you’ll relate to one or two of these problems yourself!
- Mobile staff expecting printing to just work when they arrive at a new branch, site, campus, or store.
- Distributed sites not having print server infrastructure
- Computers not being joined to a local domain
- Staff using different computers and operating systems – be they Windows laptops, MacBooks, Chromebooks, and so on – further complicating driver deployment.
System admins would have to resort to an onerous and costly workaround to manage multi-site mobile organizations. Huge pain, right?
Workarounds include hiring support staff to manually install print drivers, building an in-house deployment tool, or buying additional software to manage print queue deployment.
Now, multi-site mobile organizations can finally enable and manage printing with one complete solution: Print Deploy, in PaperCut 19.1.
So that’s why we built it. Give it a go if you haven’t tried PaperCut before. You’ll get print enablement and the world’s happiest print management solution all in one!
